Kid. A fictional autobiography

In one of my earlier college courses, circa 2016, we were assigned to design a book cover based on our fictional autobiography. I had just seen a Ted Talk with Chip Kidd presenting about his experience designing book covers. Taking inspiration from both his style and process, I designed this book cover. At the time, was struggling with my mental health and this idea of jumbled words and static was very relatable.

I opted to mock up the first few pages (obviously, I can’t resist). Within the book, I wanted readers to be greeted with a sense of tension or stress with these static-like design elements.
